DRIFTWOOD
Beautiful natural notes of silver ambergris, sandalwood and cedar combine to create the scent of an afternoon on a Northern California beach. These three notes are the focus of the perfume. The sandalwood used here is some of the creamiest I have smelled in a long time, probably because it's the actual stuff. It smells wonderfully nutty, the way in which I would imagine sunflower seed butter to smell. No trace of fig or coconut to be found, which I truly appreciate. The cedar is crisp and bright. The combined woody elements give me the impression of the scent of cypress trees. The natural silver ambergris gives the perfume its animalic touch. It makes me think of how I smell when I get out of the salty ocean water and then lay out under the sun. I know I'm "dirty", and I will take a shower at some point, but in those moments I just want to live in my briny, sweaty skin. To me this is sunny California, the Golden State, in a bottle. Simple, natural, relaxed and stunning.

QUESTIONABLE MOTIVES
A sniff of the nozzle and I knew at that moment it was a perfume I was going to need in my collection. I sprayed a bit onto my skin, and over time it just became more and more wonderful.
It starts out powdery and subtly sweet, yet somehow elegant too. Almost immediately I am drawn in by the type of musk that smells like fabric softener. So innocent. Then I begin to *question* it when I catch whiffs of dirty skin in need of a shower. Clean, or dirty? I am not sure! But one thing I know for sure is that I also smell the unburned frankincense that Mirus mentions in their list of notes. It's interesting, for sure, but it adds up to a well-blended, highly wearable fragrance. It's great as an everyday perfume, yet I could also see myself wearing it with a little black dress.
I would describe it on the whole as kinda hazy; kinda fluffy; kinda creamy. I didn't know for certain what its motives were, but a full bottle came home with me. We will get dirty together and then do our laundry.

WICKED STEPMOTHER
When I spritzed Wicked Stepmother onto my inner-elbow, I immediately picked up the intoxicating scent of jasmine, one of my favorite notes in all of perfumery. Yet it is so incredibly difficult to find a jasmine perfume that actually smells good, despite the fact that it is probably one of the most common notes found in perfumes. The quality of the jasmine in Wicked Stepmother was sublime right off the bat, in a way I don't believe I have ever smelled.
I soon noticed the fragrance had a similar fruity play on jasmine that a couple of other fragrances also have, Bubblegum Chic being the most obvious example. It's a fruity play on jasmine that is very addictive to me. While Bubblegum Chic is more strictly a white floral, and Wicked Stepmother is more of a full-bodied perfume with many notes, they both smell like they contain a gigantic bubblegum note. Actually Wicked Stepmother has a stronger and sweeter bubblegum note. Me likes.
Wicked Stepmother is maybe kinda reminiscent of vintage perfumes such as L'Air du Temps, probably because of the carnation. In Wicked Stepmother, the spicy carnation note is tempered with amber and rounded out with vanilla. Sillage is excellent, as seems to be the case with pretty much all perfumes from this house. The scent drifted to my nose many times throughout the evening, causing me to become utterly bewitched over the course of several hours. This wicked stepmother has weasled herself into my heart (and likely my collection).
